Seasonal Vehicle Maintenance Tips

Keep your vehicle running smoothly all year with these seasonal tips.

Spring

  • Tires - Swap winter tires for all-season and rotate to extend tire life.
  • Wiper Blades - Cold and salt can damage rubber. Check blades and fluid.
  • Brakes - Listen for grinding or squealing. Have certified technicians inspect wear.
  • Fluids - Top off all fluids after winter to prevent engine wear.

Summer

  • Air Conditioning - Ensure a/c cools properly; have it serviced if needed.
  • Cooling System - Flush and refill coolant; check level and condition regularly.
  • Oil - Hot weather and extra driving demand proper oil maintenance.
  • Brakes - Monitor for pulsations, noises, or increased stopping distance.

Fall & Winter

  • Heater/Defroster - Must work properly for visibility and comfort.
  • Battery - Winter load can cause failures. Test with professional equipment.
  • Lights - Inspect and replace any burned-out bulbs; more usage in low-light months.
  • Wiper Blades - Replace if worn; check fluid to handle snow and ice.
  • Emergency Kit - Gloves, boots, blankets, flares, shovel, sand/litter, chains, flashlight, snacks, and water.
